Introducing Palestinian Basketry

Sunbula is happy to welcome Jamaain Women's Society, our new partner from Jamaain village in the Nablus district.  The society, founded in 1996 as a grassroots initiative, serves 140 women in the village through various social and educational activities.  It also provides an income generation opportunity through the basketry, a renowned tradition of the village.

Farming communities in Palestine have been producing baskets, trays, and other household items with local materials, including wheat straw, olive and almond trees.  The beautifully crafted basketry from Jamaain are now available at Sunbula Craft Shop in Jerusalem and coming soon to our Online Craft Market.
